The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children begin routine dental visits by age one so that problems may be diagnosed and treated early. At Great Smiles, our goal is to help your children feel good about visiting the dentist and educate them on how to care for their teeth to avoid problems completely.
We have been providing outstanding, state of the art pediatric dental care for infants, children and adolescents in North County for over 35 years. Our team is experienced in interacting with children in a way that sets us apart from what you may have experienced at a general dentist. Establishing us as your child’s “dental home” provides us the opportunity to implement preventative dental habits that can help your child maintain great oral health. Happy visits to our office empower your child to feel good about seeing the dentist and taking care of their teeth. Regular dental care is an important part of your child’s total health and our entire team strives to make each child’s visit comfortable and fun.
During your child’s first visit we will review his or her previous dental and medical history. This allows us to become more familiar with your family as well as make sure that we understand your child’s important medical and dental needs. We will acquaint your child with our dental office in an age appropriate manner. Everything we plan to do for your child will be explained and demonstrated. We will complete an oral examination and clean your child’s teeth. The examination may, depending on your child’s age and dental needs include x-rays. Upon completion of the initial examination, your child’s oral health status, preventative measures and any necessary treatment will be discussed with you by one of our Board Certified Pediatric Dentists. We encourage you to accompany your child throughout this process and want your participation in determining the best course of dental care for your child.
Along with your smile, please bring the following items to your child’s first visit.
We request that a parent or legal guardian be present at the first visit.
